UPDATE: We have a winner! Congrats to Katie Watkins!
Darby, my heroine in Cinderella Screwed Me Over, used to be
obsessed with fairytales and she especially loved Cinderella, from the shoes to the dress to that magical moment with
the prince. But she feels like she’s dated every type of guy there is, and all
she’s learned is that while a good pair of shoes can change your life, finding
the mythical one is so not the way it is in fairy tales. She even puts these
exes into case studies that compare them to Disney princes, and then says why
the fairy tales are wrong, and what you should really learn from them. So she’d
probably find it amusing to be compared to a princess, but when it comes down
to it, she does have some things in common with Cinderella.

She’s got two evil stepbrothers. Okay, she
actually loves her stepbrothers, but when she was thirteen and first moved in
with them, she was convinced they were horrible. They were constantly telling
her she did everything like a girl. But when she was having a hard time at
school, they’re the ones who come to her rescue.

She meets Jake when the heel of her shoe catches
in the floor of the restaurant he owns. When she turns around to retrieve her
shoe—she’d NEVER leave a good shoe behind, hurry or clock striking midnight or
not—she finds a very hot guy picking it up for her.

She sings when she cleans. Okay, that’s totally
not true. As she puts it:

You know what I was not doing as I scrubbed
my bathroom floor Saturday morning? Singing. The only thing coming from my
mouth as I scoured that brown crap between the tiles was a stream of
profanities.

My favorite prince is Prince Harry. He gets more handsome as he gets older, and he has his mother's humanitarian heart.

The Beast! Hes my favorite. Hes so cold and gruff. But under neither it all, hes quite sad, lonely and so…tortured? Would that be the right word? I love how he changes, and opens up. Thank you!
