Scrap Metal

I got to chat with Alexi Raymond, author of Epic Force and co-author with Jenna Scott for the upcoming Scrap Metal! I’ve known Alexi & Jenna on twitter for a long time and got to meet both of them at RT! So much fun! Okay, so let’s get started

1)
Tell us about the inspiration for this book.
The inspiration was – to write something completely male
fantasy that I’ve never attempted before! What could be more sexy than a
confident rockabilly woman and her hard edged-soft hearted man? Oh…and
originally her innocent cowgirl best friend! Yeah, the story has changed A LOT
from the first draft!
2)
Did you listen to a particular album or song
while writing?
There were a couple! A big one to get me synced up to Angel
was Paramore’s The Only Exception. She’s been through a lot in her life and
it’s taught her to keep distance from herself and the people around her.
TRIVIA
3)
You know I’m a shoe fanatic. So stilletos,
wedges, or flip flops?
Definitely! And so is Angel! She wears combat boots while
picking through scrap, but she’s obsessed with heels and wedges of all sorts!
Especially if there’s anything unique about them that matches her outfit! Black
kitten heels with a little white patent-leather action up top, yes please!
4)
What’s it like writing in a duo?
Incredibly fun! Jennah and I are almost always 100% in sync,
so once we had our story board plotted we just flew through the words! And
lucky for us, the characters were completely alive in the same way to both of
us! It also made everything easier; the revisions, edits, WAITING. All the good
stuff!
5)
Three words to describe your hero
Confident, Sure, Compassionate
6)
Three words to describe your heroine
Feisty, Strong, Determined
7)
Caffeinated substance of choice?
Angel and Jennah are pretty big on coffee! I prefer ice cold
water or a Diet Pepsi! My main man Ryke is down for a cold beer, Pepsi, Coke,
whatever you’ve got! He’s pretty laid back!
8)
‘Pantser’ or plotter of books?
Man. We both tend to flip flop. I used to be a total
pantser, but working with someone has taught me how important plotting can be!
It’s also a better way to get to know your characters!
9)
Beach getaway or shopping trip?
You’d ask me to choose?! Personally, I know there’s nothing
I love more than the waves crashing on the beach, the sun heating everything up
and the smell of tanning lotion! I’m pretty sure you’d find me there with a
book and a big ole’ blanket, Jennah and Ryke playing in the water and Angel
stopping by AFTER her shopping trip!!
Anything else you’d like to tell people about Scrap Metal?
There are hidden gems throughout the whole book! Things that
if you know us really well, will pop out at you as a sign of our personalities.
For instance, Angel’s car! Who do you think picked it and why? Even the music
they listen to and the things they love. There are tons of pieces of Jennah and
my life scattered through the pages! It would be really cool to hear what you
guys think they are and just why we put it in!

Thank you so much for having us today!! Can’t
wait to chat with everyone!
