So, today
I’m talking about the Next Big Thing blog campaign. This campaign began in
Australia and went international, showcasing new authors and/or new books for
kids through teens. Each author answers the same set of questions about a
recently published books and/or those that are slated to be released. Then that
author “tags” a few other authors who do the same thing. I’ll be talking about Act LIke You Love Me, which comes out June 10th! And I’m
tagging Rachel Harris and Alexi Raymond.
What
is the working title of your next book?
Act Like You Love Me. And since it’s coming out in a month, that’s the title
that’s staying, too.
Where
did the idea come from for the book?
After writing Falling for Her Fiancé, I got a lot of wonderful feedback from
readers saying they wanted more. So I decided to write a series—the
Accidentally in Love Series. I’d had an idea years ago about a director and an
actress, and there was a nice, behind the curtains kiss in my mind. So I
decided to explore that idea, and add in the fact that Brynn had a huge crush
on Sawyer in high school, but he doesn’t even recognize her, which annoys and
relieves her all at the same time. From there all the pieces starting to fall
into place.
What
genre does your book fall under?
Adult contemporary romance
What
actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie
rendition?
I remember a story about Katy Perry, where she went back to her high school to
perform and the guy who wouldn’t give her the time of day back then was there.
She’s got funky style and I modeled Brynn from a cross of her and Zooey
Dechanel, since I love her charming awkwardness on New Girl. Either one of
those would be a great pick for Brynn.
As for
Sawyer, well, I used pictures of a male model Heather from Love N Books posted
as I was writing. So I don’t know if he acts, but his name is David Entinghe,
and he’s got the same green eyes Sawyer has. I posted a pic to my FB page if
you want to stare into those eyes for a minute. Lol. https://www.facebook.com/CindiMadsenBooks?ref=hl#!/photo.php?fbid=649436028416834&set=a.482913825069056.128498.294170647276709&type=1&theater
What
is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
McAdams pretends to be someone else when her former high school crush, Sawyer
Raines, is the new director of the play she’s in.
Who
is publishing your book?
Entangled Publishing, the Bliss line!
How
long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?
It took me five and a half crazy weeks, from idea to my editor’s inbox. I’m
still a little twitchy from it. Lol
would you compare this story to within your genre?
comparing my book to others. I’ll just say it’s a romantic comedy, so if you
like those, we’re good to go J
Who
or what inspired you to write this book?
Fishing is mentioned in the book quite a bit, which was something I did with my
family growing up, and Brynn definitely has some characteristics similar to my
sister Randa, and even a few similarities of my critique partner, Brandy
Vallance. My sister in law, Crystal, is an actress, and she answered my many
questions on acting, as did the fabulous Rachel Harris.
What
else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?
There are lots of funny lines and lots of kissing. Plus there’s a scene in the
rain. RAIN! Kissing! Yay!
